Marsilio Ficino馃尮

"Ficino was the greatest Florentine philosopher and metaphysician in the proper sense of the word."
(Paul Oskar Kristeller)
We can say that Divine Theourgia=acting on the gods- or that difficult immaculate and pure work of approach, transmission, transformation and dissemination, in a neat direction to the correct path of spiritual ascension, has in Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499), a genuine exponent and educated follower.
Now, there is an ancient and ancient divine operation or primordial tradition.
Consequently, it is an old incorruptible wisdom= (Prisca theologia) jealously guarded, harshly maintained and firmly held as a beautiful gold chain through an ancient and secret ritual and ceremonial theurgical relationship.
In this way it is a spiritual relationship with certain beings and spirits related to the very origin of the primordial origin of the divine light.
In reality, that ancestral truth is also –essentially- an esoteric, hermetic, Kabbalistic tradition, with noble and secure Orphic roots.
A direct source of tradition fuses us and binds us spiritually to that legendary pure talismanic magic of divine operation.
The one that allows us to slowly approach the genuine process of transformation and ascension.
However, it is permissible for us to suppose that all those sublime and sweet characteristics of the divine bonds uttered in chants and magic spells of proven primordial secret revelation are gathered in it.
In the end, we can say that it is an immaculate ancestral wisdom already framed within a rigorous proven process of assimilation and reception, as an enviable model, of an intermediary tradition of knowledge.
Or, better to say, that it is a whole body of initiatory and mystery ideas structured in fine patterns and delicate congruent and secret teachings.
Undoubtedly, they are the ones that can, among their many experimental forms, even try to approach the imitation and reconstruction of divine actions.
It is evident that in the same way, they are remnants of ancient millenary traditions received directly and carefully selected through the exclusive and hierarchical mediation of powerful astral deities.
“Ficino spoke of the magus in the same terms as his priest-physician. Magic is not a profane cultivation of demons but captures the heavenly gifts hidden in natural objects for the promotion of health. It is 'natural magic' that requires a superior mind in which celestial and earthly elements are combined and perfectly balanced. ''
(Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke, The Western Esoteric Traditions , Oxford University Press, 2008, 80)
It is obvious that, for Ficino's spirituality, there was only one safe, rigorous and theurgical sacramental way=Pansophia- of assimilation and reception of seminal ideas from the divinity.
That ORPHIC and PYTHAGORIC path was also the wisdom of the ancient tradition that guides our spirit through the arduous work of inner purity along the unknown and luminous path of solar ascension.
For Ficino, then there was a traditional reception sacred power that as a magical energy breath and vibration =HEKA -, it was possible to access it through theurgical work assimilating and crossing the rivers or pulsations of a secret numerical Universal rhythm and the cosmic harmonic correspondences and astral analogies; within an immanent and transcendent Solar enigmatic language in the FATHER-SOURCE or ALL and First Transcendent Fire.
Orpheus, the mythical founder of philosophical initiations in the form of mysteries, 'brings together a host of older Eastern traditions, Akkadian, Hurrite-Hittite, and Egyptian most of all,' as Burkert observes ''.
(Algis Uzdavanys, Philosophy and Theurgy, Sophia Perennis, USA, 2010,72)
This solar metaphysical cult - anti-Saturnian - that revives with Ficino, is also truly the very formal structure of a skilled and authentic scholarly ritual and theological body of cultivated priest magicians.
Theurgists and initiates in the arcane patterns of the esoteric orphic chants or, in the philosophical speculation of the “descent and ascent” arising from the escapist sacred fire.
(Walter Burkert; Babylon, Memphis, Persepolis, Harvard University Press, 2004, 108-109)
In fact, Ficino's spiritual philosophy is a glorious system and a subtle attempt to imitate divine light, which manages to radiate and manifest itself constantly and powerfully from the FLOWER馃尮 OF FIRE.
(Chaldean Oracles, fr. 34,37 and fr. 148)
Possibly it is very possible to access it and "get it" through rigorous and harsh effective and constant practices of ritual-katharmoi purification, protected and elaborated in complicated teletai-rites of prudent and cautious theurgy.
Precisely, it is a whole systematic journey of ritual and initiatory elevation in the search for the hidden light, entirely established by means of symbols and sacred rites enshrined in strict defined cultic soteriological patterns.
In other words, we can say that the sensitive and educated thought of Ficinian spiritual force follows a perennial ancestral tradition that proposes an integral vision of the man-world with very strong cosmic affinities of a deep magical nature.
To a great extent, it is a totally harmonious integrative vision, whose essential function is to be able to achieve the appropriate tools to access through personal, rational and intellectual imagination and enlightenment, towards maximum consciousness as the sole and exclusive expression of self-consciousness.
We must note that, Ficino was a catholic priest and canon of the Cathedral of Florence with an enviable handling and total knowledge of the reciprocal influences of the astrology of origin and the Orphic tradition or Arcana Discipline.
(De vita, 1489)
"The name of Orfeo was associated with astrological knowledge and had become an authority in this field already in the Roman imperial era.''
(Raquel Mart铆n Hern谩ndez, Orfeo y Los Magos, Abada Editores, Spain, 2010,76-82)
After all, for him, life was a trajectory of origin and recurrent and immortal astrological dimension of the soul as a way of ascent -with its two wings, will and intellect- internal and contemplative towards the privileged and exclusive path of divinity.
(P. O. Kristeller, Eight Philosophers of the Italian Renaissance, New York, Columbia University, 1964, 65-68)
However, the soul must go through a hermetic process of astrological descent from sphere to descending sphere and then ascending whose final goal is the recovery or mastery of the original state of SOLAR spiritual regeneration.
All of this, after achieving "lowered himself through the harmonious machinery of the spheres" =(Poimandres I, 14), is that a Hermetic-Alchemical process of personal astrological purification occurs in the duality of man-male and female-from the element lead to gold-to acquire and seal again the glorified consciousness of the initial almost lost initiatory journey.
For this reason, it is why, unique of all the beings that live on earth, man is double: mortal by the body, immortal by the essential Man.
( Poimandres I, 15)
After all, it is that man of the cosmos who possesses in his being the very essence and seed of the structure and sound Arithmosophy of the cosmos.
And it is the same, who must try to know through the absolute domain of number, music and the appropriate spiritual theurgical philosophy, how to achieve the achievable PHILOSOPHICAL WAY OF LIFE to return towards unification with the lost home of the infinite SOLAR universe.
That is the sense of the journey to the Cosmic SOLAR Seed or lyre Whose flower seed -FLOWER馃尮 OF FIRE-resides and dwells- "having put in the heart"; fr.95- deep and delicate in your own heart.
So, the earth is simply a geometric center, but the organic vital alchemical center is the powerful and life-giving most sacred fire of the GOLDEN SUN.
"He firmly fixed (the solar fire) in the place of the heart".
(Fragments: fr. 58, Chaldean Oracles)
Therefore, only through contemplation and meditation together with the practice of PRAYER and music or Orphic chants received and can we receive, like Master Ficino, the appropriate tools for the healthy development of our spiritual faculties.
Through the constant purification of moral thoughts and feelings together with a strict diet of pure nutrition, the gradual ascent to the transcendental world of the source and origin of the ALL = UNIVERSAL LOVE can be achieved.
(P. O. Kristeller, Renaissance Thought and the Arts, Princeton University Press, 1990,94-95)
Likewise, only through a genuine, rigorous and pure regimen of spiritual exercises can the very personal experience - not for everyone - of attaining gradual contemplative ascension as an active principle of human dignity be attained.
With his historical successes and mistakes, Ficino believed in the existence of a strong tradition - Philosophia perennis - prior to Plato and Socrates, that maintained and nurtured the spiritual substrate of their philosophical and esoteric teachings and writings (Hermes, Zoroaster, Orpheus, Pythagoras and the Oracles Chaldeans)
Additionally, there are in Ficinian thought certain airs of musicality and Orphic magic covered with tints and gleams of a very ancient shamanism with solar tendencies.
In this way, musical art is another fundamental aspect to achieve spiritual union and harmony spritus mundi), separating from us all melancholic SATURNAL and sad spirit and being able to restore in us all divine things in complete fusion with the efficient method of theurgical analogy. and ritual.
Thus, this magical-musical language is produced by means of orphic and oracular songs and the power of the voice emitted between sounds and physical and expressive gestures of high sacred content.
(M. Ficino , De Triplici Vita, Florence, 1498, Opera Omnia , 2 vols. Basel, 1576, p.493,568, 651 in DP Walker, 2003, 1-5; see carefully De Vita coelitus comparanda de Ficino)
In fact, the Universe is built according to harmonic geometric and mathematical proportions between the macrocosm and the microcosm that have their essential seat in the solar nature of man himself as a vibrating circuit or musical microcosm.
We must take care of what we hear and be more selective with the sounds that enter our auditory system.
And indeed, these mathematical proportions are in the body like a pentagonal star of Pythagorean harmonic proportions.
Hence, it is here that the theurgical ancestral magical wisdom enters - Theion ergon = work of the gods - to teach man that also in plants, food and medicines is found that power of invocation and celestial influences that can affect and transform the nature of man according to the way in which this hidden and divine power of things is worked and mastered.
In this way, it is a very old combinatorial art that was taught and learned in the Academy of Florence and that recognizes the hidden principles and the influence of the stars in everything.
(Gregory Shaw, Theurgy and the Soul, The Pennsylvania State University, 1995, 4 -8)
A significant aspect is that the sage Giovanni Pico, in his Orphic Conclusions, also mentions to us the powerful effective natural magic of the Orphic hymns and songs.
“Apart from those Orphic Hymns which are addressed to planetary deities, Ficino would probably have sung other Orphic fragments, other ancient prayer TO THE SUN… '' .
(D. P. Walker, Spiritual and Demonic Magic from Ficino to Campanella, The Pennsylvania State University Press, 2003, p. 2. 3)
It should be clarified that the path of the ancient tradition is also the way and the path that places the initiate on the path of profound recognition of a principle of dignity and immortality and in the supreme glorification of that solar essence of the soul of men "magnum miraculum est homo ... ''.
(Asclepius 6, in the Corpus Hermeticum )
Possibly, some dignity should remain after that tremendous cosmological and soteriological scenario of the fall of the good old Adam.
Following Orpheus and his sacred magic theurgy was for Ficino to seek the best and fruitful of tradition.
And that was confirmed by the words of Proclus:
"All Greek theology proceeds from the mystical doctrine of Orpheus".
(Proclus, In Platonis theologian I)
Aglaofemo, Pythagoras, Orpheus, Plato and Iamblichus - who affirmed that Pythagoras acquires his wisdom from the Orphic traditions - somehow securely links in the same initiation chain of SUNLIGHT.
Those who know say that Macrobius also believed that all the gods of Olympus were emanations or manifestations of the Sun.
(Girolamo Aleandro, Antigua tabulae explicatio , 9.44, (1616)
It would seem then that this sacred magic invites us to follow the law of correspondence and secret planetary symmetries- Arcani nodis = arcane knots-, where the prudent theurgist-magician is able to "smell" revive and capture in each essence, color, sound, and flavor, the substantial aromas of cosmic influences.
That way he can be said, without hesitation, as the prestigious researcher and occult scholar Carl. G. Jung stated:
“I do not believe; I Known'.
"Noli vana sectari et temous perdere nugis nihil proficientibus" =Do not look for vain things, or waste time in useless trifles.
A fraternal embrace of light.

HERMETIC PRINCIPLES OF ASCENSION = Scala Philosophorum V铆ctor. Arturo. Cabello. Reyes. 'And he had a dream: He saw a ladder that was resting on the ground, and its end touched the sky. Angels of God ascended and descended through it'. (Genesis 28:12) Certainly, it is the only Biblical mention of a staircase where the Hebrew term of sul-lam is used precisely, in clear reference to the vision that Jacob manages to contemplate in dreams when stopping on his pilgrimage from Beer-sheba to Haran. Beautiful and significant is the vision of Bethel that manifests itself in an ancient sacred place. Sacred and productive place, for many ancient peoples, that for many centuries before this important vision was known by the Canaanites, with the powerful name of Luz=Light. (Genesis 28:19) Significantly, the place where Abraham had camped some time ago. (Genesis 28: 16-19; 35: 6) THE LADDER of Hermes, in its two basic modalities, the spiral and the straight, is unified with the fundamental ...
