Marsilio Ficino, was the main representative of the Platonic Academy of Florence. Fourteen of them were translated by Marsilio Ficino. Master Ficino opined: "Here we have one of 'The Ancient Theologies' = (Prisca Theologia) taken originally from Mercury and culminated in the Divine Plato." For Ficino, that Primordial tradition of Prisca Theologia, is an authentic and unique source to achieve the illumination that flows and emanates from La Dina Mens. She leads on the right path -Prisci magi- towards Platonism derived from the Egyptian Thoth-Hermes wisdom or, the famous Hermetic Chain = 'Hermaic Chain'. Ficino claimed and held the opinion that Plato and his Philosophy had their origin in the wisdom of Mercury, and their doctrines were similar in content, those of Orpheus and, in a way, Pythagoras. Some of them, such as the Poimandrés or the Crátera, are already mentioned previously by the alchemist Pseudo-Zózimo of Panópolis.
