EUCLIDES in Masonic Temple Tradition

''GOD CONTINUOUSLY GEOMETRIZES''
(Plato)
''And so, the Office settled there, and that worthy cleric Euclides gave it the name of Geometry; And now it is called Masonry throughout the land. ''
(Inigo Jones Manuscript, 1607)
The symbolism and spiritual depth of Euclid's forty-seventh problem (330 BC-260 BC) is an urgent duty of study and serious meditation for the Master of the Stone = Mason, in order to be able to find and decipher its meaning.
The philosophical premises - '' The Point within the Circle '' -, and its infinite symbolic possibilities of the theorem, must be the compass and guide of the path of search of mastery.
And, therefore, Euclid's Problem 47; -Forty-seventh -discovered by Pythagoras-, is essential for the study and refinement of the Stone.
All the Constitutions from documents or old manuscripts contain the "Legend of Euclid", and the researcher A. G. Mackey knows him as: "The Mystical Symbols of Masonry".
The Wisdom of Euclid of Alexandria is part of the Superior Ancestral Tradition or Perennial Sacred Science = Unique Primordial Tradition-Prisca Theologia.
A God who geometrizes prints his "geometric mark" by creating by means of a Mathematical-Geometric Harmonic Order.
It is the Royal Art = Ars Regio-Sacred Science of the Master.
All this in a referential framework of high Euclidean geometry.
'' Hic incipiunt Constituciones Artis Gemetriae secundum Eucyldem = '' The Constitutions of Geometric Art according to Euclid begins here. ''
(Regius Poem)
It is a Tradition that can be manifested, through solid documentary references that frame this knowledge as coming from a historical source and a Templar wisdom developed in Egypt and widely propagated by means of the well-known rigorous conceptual Pythagorean assimilation of
the Geometer Euclides. (1)
It is the same Tradition persecuted and assimilated into the refined spiritual thought of the Master of the Flower and philosopher of the Elizabethan age, Dr. John Dee:
'' The characteristic philosopher of the Elizabethan age was John Dee whose mathematical preface to the English translation of Euclid (1570) begins with an invocation to 'Divine Plato' and quotes Henry Cornelius Agrippa on the three worlds.
Dee's preface is the work of Renaissance Neoplatonist organically connected with the Hermetic- Cabalist core of the movement, particularly as formulated by the most extreme of its exponents, Agrippa. '' (2)
For these Euclid Flowery Masters, the wisdom of the educated and theurgical reception of the transmission-reception process from generation to generation and through ceremonies, secret symbols and rules of the medieval organizations of the construction guilds is fused.
''I will show one of them, although I will leave others: that is, in what way the Science of Geometry began, and who were the creators of them and other Arts ... and in what way this worthy Science of Geometry began.''(3)
In the valuable Cooke Manuscript, the knowledge of "this worthy scholar Euclid" is considered an essential part of the transmission of the unique primordial inheritance and of spiritual and physical sustenance.
"And in this Council was this Worthy Learned Euclid, ...".
(Ms. Cooke)
In the Grand Lodge Manuscript No. 1 (1583), Euclid is mentioned in the X and XI it is indicated:
'' ... and then the excellent cleric Euclides arrived ... '' '' And the excellent Euclid gave him the name geometry, because that is how Freemasonry is known in ALL countries. ''
Euclides is also mentioned in the Document or Manuscript Inigo Jones (1607) VII; '' ... and there they taught the Seven Sciences to the Egyptians; he had a worthy student whose name was Euclid and he learned very well and became a Grand Master of the Seven Sciences ... ''.
In the famous Dumfries Manuscript No.4 Euclid is mentioned as; '' ... the excellent Doctor Euclides appeared ... ''.
The secret of Opus in Masonic Art is fundamentally a matter of high spiritual geometry where the secret of Mastery must be sought by the master's themselves in an internal journey of urgent serious and rigorous study of a rigid discipline, to dispel ignorance.
It is important to point out that late Freemasonry (18th century) printed this knowledge in its new and reformed Constitutions of 1723. (4)
In relation to Euclid's Problem 47, Dr. Anderson opined:
"... foundation of all Freemasonry, sacred, civil and military." '' The first clear definition of what has later become known as the Golden Ratio was given around 300 BC by the founder of geometry as formalized deductive system, Euclid of Alexandria. '' (5)
This mathematical-geometric principle is represented in mathematical literature with the Greek-Tau Letter meaning '' section '' '' the cut '', according to Livy.
All this Primordial Tradition is collected in Geometry in, The Elements of Euclid.
It is important to recognize that they were the monks already from 1120 with the possibility that from the same convents the knowledge and the Primordial Tradition could be disseminated.
(English Benedictine Monk Adelard De Bath-1070-1145 translates the Elements of Euclid into Latin).
The Proportions of the Temple are built according to the Geometric Pattern of Divine Proportions, and it is oriented correctly.
High Sacred Geometry abstractly condenses the reasoning and executes it from the "hand" of the Master of the Work.
Every Temple corresponds to the cosmos in its astrological proportions in the Square of the circle = Lodge.
Let's see:
Three Triangles per astronomical position = 12 Four 90-degree angles.
Each corner of the Temple = 4 corners of 90 degrees = 360 degrees = Geometry of the Square of the Temple and Circle = Man as Microcosm 4 Internal Elements. One Element in each corner.
God as Circle and Geometric Absolute Truth.
''Truth, for the Hermetists, was not an object of Scholarly inquiry that might adequately be discussed in the pages of a Philosophical Treatise, ut a Seen and Catalytic Force in their Personal Lives. Behind the text stand the Master and the Disciple, in Everyday Interaction. ''(6)
(Correct astronomical-astrological position of the Temple according to The Masters of the Cubic and Polished Geometric Stone the Flowery Builders)
It is the Hermetic Principle of the Ternary Observing Liturgies, since some of them already manifest this Ancient Knowledge.

`` ... most worthy of Admiration, I would reply that nothing appears more admirable than Man. With whose sentence that of Mercury is agreed; Great Miracle Oh! Asclepio, is The Man. ''(7)
Magnum Miraculum est Homo.
(Asclepius, 6 in Corpus Hermeticum)
The Vitruvian Man in his Geometric essence assimilates the Solar Substance as the Formative Principle of the Spirit-Alkahest=Universal Principle that resides in Man as a microcosm.
The Master of the Flower Dr. Robert Fludd opines:
'' In the case of Man, his beginning is from Sperm; A watery or Fluid Substance, but little altered: and as in the Water the Whole Fabrick of the World, and Seeds of All Things was complicity contained ... ''(#8)
Euclid's Problem 47:
"In every triangle that contains the right angle, the square that is described on the side that subtends the right angle is equal to the squares described on the sides that contain the right angle."
This according to Albert G. Mackey, is the same Triangle who's Perpendicular is 3 feet, whose Square is 9, and whose Base is 4 feet, whose Square is 16; The hypotenuse, or subtending side, will be 5 feet, whose Square is 25, which is the sum of 9 and 16. ''
(Dr. Albert. Mackey)
Albert Pike sums it up as follows:
''The Base of the Right-Angle Triangle being 3, and the Perpendicular 4, the hypothenuse is 5, by the Rule that the Sum of the Squares of the Two Former Equal the Square of the Latter, - 3x3 being 9; and 4x4 16; and 9 + 16 being 25, The Square of 5. ''(9)
It is a triangle that contains the numbers 1,2,3, on the Three sides = (In contemporary Masonry it appears in the Symbolic Art of the game of The Jewels of The Lodge).
It is thanks to the spiritual line received in the Egyptian Temples and by initiatory way assimilated by the master Pythagoras (580-400 BC) who generalizes it following the Rule of Measurement or `` Egyptian inch ''= (3 (2) - 4 (2 ) = 5 (2).
It is known as the Pythagorean Proposition or Theorem.
It contains unlimited algebraic and geometric possibilities involved in the Theorem.
In the Temple: Osiris = 4 = Base 3 = Isis = Perpendicular Horus = 5 = the hypotenuse. Union of Male + and Female Polarity -.
Pythagorean form: A (2) = leg + leg b (2) = C (2) = hypotenuse.
The hypotenuse is the side of a Triangle opposite the right angle.
The legs are the sides of the right angle in a right triangle, and the right triangle is one with the right angle.
During the Middle Ages the Masters of the Stone Flower or Golden Flower knew it by the name of Inventum hecatombe Dignum.
